Alton Towers in Staffordshire at the edge of the Peak District, attracts millions of visitors every year. Its location in the stunning Staffordshire Countryside, is only a short drive from the Peak District National Park, making it a favourite for holidaymakers and day trippers from all over the country and indeed the world! Open from 20th March to 6th November. The journey will take about 45-60 minutes from Matlock.

 

There’s something for the whole family, with tons of terrific rides, astounding live shows, and weird and wonderful costume characters. The Alton Towers Theme Park has extraordinary, fun-packed activities for all ages - scream, let off steam, ride and slide. The amusement rides make for haunting experiences. Nemesis - Europe's first inverted roller coaster.

Oblivion - the world's first vertical drop roller coaster.

Air - the world's first B&M flying roller coaster.

Rita - a launched roller coaster which accelerates to 96 km/h (60 mph) in approximately 2.2 seconds.

Th13teen - the world's first vertical free fall drop roller coaster.

 

One of the Theme Park’s unique customer facilities is the car parks that are accessed by a mono-rail that flies over the park on its way to the main entrance. Once inside there is also a cable car system that visitors can use to navigate their way around the site.
