Matlock is a 15 minute walk from Little Lhasas Retreat and Harleys Hydro and a 10 minute drive from Tipsy Cottage. You will find all usual amenities. There is an hourly train service to Derby (30 minutes) and from there you will be able to take national connections. Matlock has a good selection of pubs and a variety of resturants including; Thai, Italian and Indian and a great park with tennis courts, a skate board ramp, childrens' play area, childrens' boat and train rides and a duck pond.
Close by
The ancient market towns of Wirksworth, Buxton and Bakewell are all close by and all have regular markets, gift shops, cafes and antique shops. Matlock Bath is only a 5 minute drive away where you will find Gullivers' Kingdom and with amusment arcades, icecream parlours & fish n chip shops, plus an abundence of gift shops, it will feel more like a visit to the seaside.
The wider area
We are situated in an ideal location for visiting the many major attractions the Peak District has to offer. Chatsworth House is only a 15 minute drive away and Alton Towers is under an hour. Walkers can enjoy The Tissington, High Peak and Manifold Trail, whilst families can venture down caves, travel high above in a cable car or wander around the many Farmers' Markets. With Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby under an hours drive, shoppers will have field day! There's loads to do with the kids too - come rain or shine! The active will be spoilt for choice; rock climbing, mountain biking, pot holing, gliding, ballooning - the list goes on. Don't worry if this all sounds too energetic though - we are surrounded by some of the prettiest in England to take a leisurley stroll around.
